Will the water reach the wall?

The question everyone asks. Our answer uses the predicted height at Liverpool, because that is what the birders' rules of thumb are written in, and every tide below is labelled with one of three tiers.

Weather moves the line. A strong south-westerly or westerly wind with low pressure adds height and brings the water in earlier; a brisk easterly with high pressure can hold a 10 m tide short of the wall. The 9.8 m marsh-covering figure is the RSPB Liverpool Local Group's; the 10 m wall line is our own estimate and there is no tide gauge at Parkgate to check it against. About the data: Times shown are at Parkgate, derived from Admiralty UKHO predictions for Liverpool (Gladstone Dock) with a 35-minute high-water offset. The marsh begins to flood meaningfully at predicted heights of 9.8m or more; above 10.0m water can reach the sea wall on The Parade. Actual water levels are modified by wind direction, wind speed, and atmospheric pressure.
