The route
- Start
- Little Eye
- Middle Eye
- Hilbre
- North end
- Seals
Start only from the Dee Lane slipway. Keep Little Eye on your right. Go over the top of Middle Eye, not round the rocks. Never cross from Hoylake or Red Rocks.
Before you set off
- The walk takes 45 to 60 minutes each way. Allow the full hour for the return.
- The gutter nearest the shore floods first. Be past it well before the window closes.
- Boots, water, warm layers, a charged phone. There is no water or shelter on the island.
- If the water is rising in front of you, do not wade. Stay on dry ground and call 999.
- Dogs on a short lead. No fires, no camping, no swimming. Off the islands by 8pm at the latest. Take your litter home.
- Cut off anyway? Don't panic and don't wade. Wait for the tide in the Slate Shed by the toilets; call 999 only in a real emergency.
